Elev8 Robotics

Students will learn about mechanical systems, energy transfer, machine automation and computer control systems. Students use a robust robotics platform to design, build, and program a solution to solve an existing problem. Our highly qualified and internationally renowned Director has created his own curriculums for all of our classes and has personally trained all of the instructors in the program.

VEX 123 Program
Grades K-2

Learners can code the 123 robot using touch to control movements and sounds. They learn sequences, logic and problem solving. earners progress to using coding Cards and the VEX Coder to control the 1 23 robot. They learn real programming away from tablets and computers. Learners use VEX code with Drag & Drop blocks to code the 123 robot. Students work both independently and in teams in order to build confidence.

VEX Go Program
Grades 2-4

The VEX GO System is a construction system that teaches the fundamentals of STEM through fun, hands-on activities that help young students perceive coding and engineering in a fun and positive way! VEX GO activities encourage all students to participate and VEX GO provides new ways to create and cooperate in team environments, VEX GO is inspiring and unlocks a students' imagination with possibilities.

10 Week Session

VEX IQ Program
Grades 3-8

Students are tasked with designing and building a robot to play with other teams in a game-based engineering challenge. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more. VEX IQ is based on plastic, snap-together pieces specifically designed to build highly functional robots. The wide variety of additional parts means that they can build anything they imagine as they continue to learn.

VEX EXP Program
Grades 7-10

VEX EXP brings math and science to life in a classroom-friendly competition where students have the intrinsic motivation to do better and compete at a higher level. There is no such thing as ‘done,’ so students get the opportunity to continuously further their learning and experiences as they continue improving their code, their engineering, and/or their game strategy. Students are challenged to work as a team and make decisions collaboratively, which is a fantastic skill that many adults still struggle with today.

VRC Competition Teams

VEX Robotics Competitions ignite the competitive spirit! Every year, a new VEX game is introduced for extracurricular STEM learning. Master STEM skills. Learn and use sophisticated software, hardware, and power tools. Students build and compete with a robot of their own design. All teams Improve teamwork skills, interpersonal, and communication skills, as well as have a ton of FUN!

DRONE BLOCKS
Grades 7-12

Drone Blocks teaches STEM and the real-world application of drone technology through, drone coding curriculum and simulations. Drones are not only a fun and engaging tool, but the applications in education are proving to be extensive and inclusive. Drone Blocks creates opportunities for students of all ages to learn Blockly, Python, and JavaScript by programming autonomous drone missions in the classroom.

Meet Our Director

Chris is a veteran teacher of The Harvey School with a 30-year tenure where he is the Director of Robotics and AP Physics. He holds degrees in Electrical Engineering from The University of Notre Dame and Stonehill College. Chris has led his Harvey School Robotics Team to 15+ first place tournament finishes including 2016 CREATE US OPEN Champions,
2021 VEXREC New York State Champions, and the
2021 VEXREC World Champions
